Game Day: Leafs vs. Bruins -- Milt Schmidt Night

First off, shamless plug-in: We're up for two Bloguin Awards -- Best Banner and Best Hockey Blog -- and we're just vain enough to want to win. Competition is stiff, especially for Best Hockey Blog. We're up against the juggernauts that is The PensBlog. Sooo, if you enjoy this blog, vote for us! We might not win, but you'll make Purrgeron happy. Voting ends tomorrow.
First showdown between the Leafs and Bruins this season. Lots of talk about Seguin facing the team he could've been drafted by.
Also lots of "How does it feel to play against your hometown team?"
"I guess I'm their enemy. I don't know if I'm still a hometown local guy that's liked pretty well."
And even worse, "What do you think of Phil Kessel?" and asking him to compare himself with "The Thrill."
"I think it is a little bit too early right now to just do that. Phil's much older. He's already on the top line. He's already earned his stripes, and I'm just a guy who's what, six games into my career? It's a little bit different."
We were realling hoping for him to respond with "Kessel who?"

Also, let it be noted that the fact that Phil Kessel and Hart Trophy is being uttered in the same sentence is making us want to vomit.
And for the record, Seguin isn't being sent down to the OHL. Too many fans have bought his t-shirt already for that to happen. Seguin means money and we know how much the Jacobs clan love money. Also, he won't learn anything new down there.
Some fun tweets coming from Haggs and Giardi of CSNNE.com:

To be fair, Komisarek is the 'tard that keeps going after Lucic despite, every time they meet, Lucic busts his face open.
After the jump... more on Komi and Lucic's (one-sided) rivarly...
Here are some videos of their dances.
The Fired Up Lucic
The One-and-a-Half KO Punch
I think we can all agree on the following:

Komisarek actually blocked us on Twitter for this. We think it's because we spelled his name wrong.
Projected Roster (Per Boston.com):
Milan Lucic-David Krejci-Nathan Horton
Jordan Caron-Patrice Bergeron-Blake Wheeler
Mark Recchi-Tyler Seguin-Michael Ryder
Brad Marchand-Gregory Campbell-Shawn Thornton
Zdeno Chara-Andrew Ference
Mark Stuart-Dennis Seidenberg
Matt Hunwick-Adam McQuaid
Tim Thomas
Tuukka Rask
Game Day Links:
- Tonight is also Milt Schmidt Night. The Bruins will be honoring the Bruins center who raked in well over 500 points in his 16 years with Boston.
- Cam Neely received his Lester Patrick Award last night. We <3 the Neely.
- How will McQuaid fair in the Top 6? DOY favorite Mark Marino looks into it.
- Puck Daddy's got a story on the Bruns Hockey "You Write the Rules" contest that's out. We voiced our opinions of this contest last week. Some tool named NICk in the PD comments went off on us:
Oh, and, yes--Yes, fans should make the rules. No one is "more fan than thou." Go ahead and follow that link to Days of Y'orr. Take a look at their screenshot of "bad taglines" and take a gander at the votes: Maybe 40 people had voted by then. They're judging the entire campaign after 40, maybe 50 votes? It just smacks of fan-elitism, as if it's some sort of exclusive club, and letting any old riff-raff enjoy the team is vehrbohten.
Clearly he wrote one of the early sumbissons we bashed. And clearly he missed the following line in our original post:
We know this contest has only been going on for less than 24 hours, but we have a feeling what's up there now will be a trend among the rule writers.--Us
Let's face it. The new leaderboard is just as bad.

From Puck Daddy
We're all for fan interaction (it's something the Bruins typically lack as an organization), but no good is going to come out of this contest.

Time to Go!
