It's here! It's finally here! The Bruins home opener! Finally we get to watch the Bruins live in meaningful games. We've been waiting for this since May.
The Bruins are having a few "events" for their opening week:
There are a few stories heading into tonight's exciting season opener.
After the jump, stories and some gameday links....
The biggest story for the Bruins is who will start in net tonight. Thomas is riding a three game winning streak and Rask hasn't started a game in ten days. Coach Julien said we'd "find out at seven" but CSNNE buddy Mike Giardi thinks Rask may have let the Purrgeron out of the bag:
So it is sounding more and more like Rask will get the home opener. We love both goalies, but we were kind of hoping Thomas would get the home opener just because. Especially after the way fans treated him last season. Welcome back to the bandwagon though.
The biggest story for us is the Bruins once again dissing Rene Rancourt and having Steven Tyler sing the anthem. We've already covered this but in our minds no one, no other person, should sing the home opener other than Rene. It's tradition. But the Bruins once again refuse to just give fans what they want. Way to go Bruins. Way to go.
We encourage those of you attending the game to join us in a "We Want Rene!" chant. What has six thumbs and doesn't give a shit about Steven Tyler? The Days of Y'Orr staff.
Our dear Bruins are riding a three game win streak and everything but the powerplay looks great. They'll need to be on there game as the Capitals will likely come on on a mission after the Bruins soundly thumped them on Tuesday. Hopefully Ovechkin is less cheap or gets destroyed today.
Wow... probably the first smart thing Boudreau has ever said.
