Re-Imagining The NHL: Boston Bruins
Welcome to the "Re-Imagining The NHL" project created by Cole Jones. Cole has been great enough to allow Days of Y'Orr to post his idea on different teams with his spin on them. You can follow Cole on Twitter. Please feel free to comment on the team below. Feel free to read the official announcement of the project here. Finally, the team you've all been asking for. Ever since the project started, I got a lot of requests for the Bruins. Well, here they are! If you haven't checked out our other teams, visit the Re-Imagining the NHL team page. The team page will be updated daily with every team we update. So before we take a look at the uniforms, lets take a look at Cole's comments on the Bruins.
Cole's comments: First off, the most noticeable change with this team is the color scheme. My favorite color is brown, and not many sports teams can pull it off. I think the Boston Bruins are one of the few who can, as it's a color they've used at times in their history. I loved their winter classic uniforms so much that I used that color scheme as a base for the shades I ended up chosing. Brown replaces black. Ivory replaces white. It gives the team a vintage look that I don't feel is forced. I also decided to use the rounded collars I used on my Habs concept on all three uniforms.
I fully expect the alternate jersey to be lambasted by everyone who sees it, but it's a vision I've had since I started this project on day one. It has historical grounds, and just simply gives off a very "Vintage Bruins" look to me. The fact that I used #2 is simply a coincidence, but this jersey evokes the pain and death that Eddie Shore doled out to his opponents. Hate if you must, but I'd buy the shit out of it.
After the jump, the Bruins...

Now, onto the uniforms. The home jersey looks good to me except for the collar. I would prefer a tie-up collar like the Bruins current home, but if I had my way every team would be wearing tie-up collars since they're pretty awesome. They away one look good too, but again it needs a tie-up collar. I love the brown pants too.
Now on to the alternate jersey. I fucking love it. When the Bruins announced that they were going for a throwback style jersey for the Winter Classic, I prayed that it was going to be this kind of jersey. It looked bad ass on Eddie Shore and it would still look bad ass today on a guy like Milan Lucic or Zdeno Chara. I know a team would never go for something like this because it doesn't portray the main logo in the middle of the chest, but the uniqueness of the jersey alone would make it sell.
The golden color of the jersey is also a win for me. I'm not really against bright alternate jerseys if they're designed well. I hated the Pooh Bear jersey (yet still owned one), mainly because of the logo they used. Could you get anymore pussified than that one? Jesus fucking Christ. To be fair, I don't really like the Bruins current alternate either. It's plain, it's boring and it doesn't pop like an alternate should. A big part of me was hoping that once the Winter Classic was over and done with, the Bruins would make that jersey their alternate but alas it was not meant to be.
So the alternate that Cole proposed? I'm all over it. I love it and I would buy a few of them. Overall, I believe this set is much better than what the Bruins are wearing now. That's a tough task to pull off because I believe Boston has one of the best home/road jerseys in the league. The ones they wear now are crisp and clean. The alternate I can take or leave.
But the brown...
Something about the brown...
