Horton Watch 2011

Written by Justin on .

We've been holding off on doing something like this with Nathan Horton for a few reason:

1) We didn't think it'd last this long.
2) We kinda like Horton. We're seeing the effort but no follow through. Guy must've kicked a puppy or something to get this streak of luck.

But he's gone 21 days without a goal and our fantasy hockey teams have suffered for it. He has 1 goal and 2 assists in January (last goal vs. Toronto). Therefore -- and with the help from our good friend Brian Fantana -- we're introducing Horton Watch 2011

Stay tuned between periods in our game recaps to get Fantana's take on Horton's goalless streak.  Add a comment

Apparently Tim Connolly is just like Charlie Sheen

Yahoo! Sports/Rotowire.com strikes again with yet another hilarious fantasy hockey player update.

Wow and ouch. Seems a bit harsh but photographic evidence proves Yahoo!/Rotowire's point.

What a dog.

Side note - The above original photograph is about too much dirty dancing at school dances -- "a dance form called 'grinding'". Wow. We feel like this story was written at least 10 years too late. Also... when did high schoolers start dressing like that? Add a comment

Marchand-Bergeron-Recchi Dominate. Bruins Win!

Written by Jon and Robb on .

Umm wow.  So remember back when we were complaining about the Bruins offense? Well lately we've needed to find new things to bitch about (we're looking at you Horton).

A solid game and solid victory for the Bruins against a team that is much better than they looked today.  The Marchand-Bergeron- Recchi line continues to impress and Thomas was as good as he has been all season.  We could keep going, but I think that this expresses how we feel more than words can:

Mike Komisarek Accused of Hitting Woman

Written by Jon on .

TMZ is reporting that Toronto Maple Leafs punching bag and resident turtle Mike Komisarek punched a woman in the face at a Hollywood nightclub. If this is true, quite frankly we're not surprised that Komisarek would bully a woman.

The incident apparently happened earlier this month and as Pensblog points out the Leafs were on the West Coast around the beginning of January.

Our first issue with the TMZ report is that it calls Komisarek a "defensive powerhouse" which automatically makes them lose all credibility. If by "defensive powerhouse" they meant "defensive turnstile" then they certainly have a point.

TMZ then goes on to call him an NHL "star" so again the reliability of this report seems faulty. Komisarek might be a star to other turtles, since he has mastered the craft, but that is about it.

But if the report is true, what could drive Mike Komisarek to strike a woman? We explore.

After the jump.... Mike Komisarek is a wussy, cowardly, no talent douche bag.......

Game Day: Bruins vs. Nordiques - Go Away Forsberg

Written by Jon on .

Today the Boston Bruins have their yearly game against the Colorado Avalanche! We have trouble making jokes about the Avalanche. Some of the Days of Y'Orr staff enjoys catching the occasional Avs game on Center Ice.

Unfortunately today's game is starting to get overshadowed by Peter Forsberg skating with the Avs.

Look, we agree he was great back in the day. But his time has past man. He's kind of like the Brett Favre of hockey except he's not a giant douche and doesn't send pics of his dong to chicks. Well, at least that we know of.

But how many attempted comebacks has he had now? Who knows. Maybe he'll come back again, be super awesome and put us in our place. Until then, we just don't see what all the fuss is about.

Who's interested in a Boston Bruins Tweet Up w/DOY & BST&N

Written by Justin on .

Boston Bruins Tweet UpOur buddy Joe Gill over at Boston Sports Then & Now and founder of the Boston Sports Blogapolooza recent approached us with an idea:

A Boston Bruins Tweet Up

We're intrigued and we're hoping to throw something together with him, regardless of how casual of an event it is.

Question we have for all you readers is this:

1) Are you interested?

2) We're thinking somewhere in Boston... any pub ideas that's good for Bruins watching?

3) Which game would you prefer for this...

Bruins vs. Senators (Fri. 2/18) -- "Chris Neil Hate Night"

or

Bruins vs. Oilers (Sun. 2/27) -- "Hall vs. Seguin"

Where's the D-eef? Bruins Lose.

Written by Jon on .

Just one of those games. Bruins never quite seemed in it mentally. The defense abandoned Rask from the start and it was all down hill from there. Eventually Buffalo started converting all the chances they were given.

It was a home game and Rask was in net so maybe we should've seen this coming. But the Bruins are coming off big wins against top teams in the Eastern Conference and a home and home against Carolina. They crapped themselves tonight and were still in it most of the game. We'll see how they respond Saturday against a good Colorado team.

After the jump.... Bruins hate playing defense and Buffalo fans are dumb. Really, really dumb........

Game Day Preview: Sabres vs. Bruins...The Crying Game

Written by Robb on .

Game Day: Buffalo Sabres vs. Boston Bruins 1/19/11
Oh, hello old friends! No hard feelings, right?

This is going to mark the fifth game between the Bruins and the Sabres and will be a tiebreaker of sorts.  Boston won the first two meetings, whereas Buffalo took that last two, including that exercise in retardery back on January 1st (much like Jack Edwards, we enjoy making up our own words).

Both teams will be entering the game with momentum.  The Sabres just beat out the Canadiens in OT on Tuesday, and the Bruins did some terrible things to Carolina earlier this week. Both teams will be entering the game with momentum.  The Sabres just beat out the Canadiens in OT on Tuesday, and the Bruins did some terrible things to Carolina earlier this week.

In case you haven't heard, Drew "thorn in our side" Stafford will not be playing today.  We're not claiming to know anything about it, but if you read our last Buffalo recap, you'd know the Patrice Purrgeron had plans for our young friend.

That's right, no hat tricks for you mother fucker!  Stafford is sitting out with a sore groin, the jokes write themselves.

Dear Buffalo.... We're Sorry.....

Written by Jon on .

There is something that has weighed heavily on the hearts of the entire Days of Y'Orr staff.

After a December Sabres-Bruins game, we went on Twitter and message boards and saw all the Sabres fans whining and crying... even though the Sabres won. We were baffled. So for our recap, we didn't even cover the game and just made fun of Buffalo. Ryan Miller. Lindy Ruff. Patrick Kaleta. The city itself. No one was safe. It was too easy. Sabres fans began sending us hate mail.

One guy even told us that if we ever step foot in the city of Buffalo that we are "fucking dead! DEAD!" Not sure if he's aware those kind of threats are illegal, but we're cool guys so we let it go.

Then Buffalo fans started bitching about how Chara sucked for starting stuff with Miller after the game. Then Justin wrote an ironic post, breaking down the after game scrum frame by frame to show it was actually Miller that started with Chara. The Buffalo fans didn't see the irony and called us whiners. Then we called them inbred idiots. We even got into a Twitter battle with some 40 year old dude who wouldn't stop typing "LOL" and talking like a teenage girl. Then we called him a pedophile. Patrice Purrgeron felt so awful he made a card for Buffalo.

That was mean of us Buffalo. We feel like we really screwed up a chance at a good relationship with the city and the Sabres. So today we would like to make amends and offer an olive branch in hopes our friendship can be salvaged.

After the jump, Days of Y'Orr apologizes for all the things we've said and discusses how awesome the Sabres are....
