Hunwick Gone as Cap Moves Begin

Written by Jon on .

matty

Call it a message. Call it the start of a shake-up. Call it a cap clearing move (this is the most likely scenario).

Whatever it is, Matt Hunwick is now a member of the Colorado Avalanche in return for prospect and former Boston University defenseman Colby Cohen, who will report directly to the Providence Bruins.

The $1.45 million that GM Peter Chiarelli cleared by trading Hunwick is enough to move Marc Savard back into the line-up, with the trade an indication Savard is just about ready.

We're neutral on the trade. We're not trying to cop out here, but we weren't big Hunwick fans but we didn't hate him either. He certainly hasn't been impressive this year but had picked up his game a little recently.

hunwickjoemac

A lot of Hunwick defenders immediately jumped in and threw around the "puck moving defenseman" tag and talked about how the Bruins were going to miss that. Not sure which games everyone has been watching this season, but Hunwick hasn't exactly done a stellar job of that so far. Bruins have won nothing with Hunwick, so his loss isn't exactly terrible. If the move was intended to send any sort of message, would've been better to trade one of many underperforming vets.

Hey whatever.

After the jump, we go to Twitter to see what the masses think of the Hunwick trade....

Tuukka Rask Meltdown Watch

Written by Jon on .

For the forseeable future you will see a new feature around Days of Y'Orr, particularly in our Previews and Recaps when Rask plays/starts.

Our dear, dear Tuukka Rask is 1-6-1 on the season, a record that does not reflect his level of play. Just look at his .926 save percentage and you'll see Rask has been no slouch this season.

raskstats

We're used to seeing Two U's, Two K's, Two Points. This year he's been lucky if his team plays well for even 10 minutes in front of him.

Does he team hate him? Do they want him to explode? Do they enjoy seeing him suffer?

Throughout the season Rask has talked about how he's happy Thomas is doing so well and that he knows it's just bad luck that he hasn't been as successful as he'd like. He's never once come out and bashed his teammates or their effort. He just smiles and says his time will come.

But look into his eyes. You can see the anger burning. He is but a man! No man can continue to take what Rask has been forced to deal with and not explode!

Eventually... milk crates all across Boston are going to pay.

So we're starting the "Tuukka Rask Meltdown Watch", a simple meter that shows how close he is to totally flipping out and tossing milk crates onto the ice, into the crowd, at his defensemen, etc. We're not implying Rask has anger issues, we're simply saying that he has to be reaching his limits. How can he not be?!

Even his fantasy stock is plummeting! Poor guy.

raskfantasy

As you can see, the meter has five stages. Today we're being generous and saying Rask is starting to get irritated, but hasn't completely gone bat shit crazy yet. The Days of Y'Orr computers will continue to monitor Rask's temperment and keep you, the fans, updated and let you know if you need to take cover. Enjoy.

The Bear returns: Respect the jersey

Written by Justin on .

Boston Bruins Bear commercial: Respect the Jersey

We're finally back after pigging out with family and friends... hence the lack of game previews and lame recaps for the last two games. But to be the fair, we still put more effort in than the Bruins.

It looks like the Boston Bruins are at it again with their Bruins Rules commercials.

We're slightly grossed out by the look of the jersey. But well played, Bear. Well played.

We're also glad the Bruins are quick to leave the abomination that is the fan-created rule contest with this one and the Don't Disrespect the Garden vid.

Thrashers Defeat Bruins, No One In Georgia Notices

<Insert any given general comment about the Bruins lack of 60 minute effort here>

Really there is nothing left to say that hasn't already been tweeted, facebooked, blogged, reported, or spoken about.  The Bruins gave a pitiful effort during the first period and were embarrassed in front of a crowd of at least 60 or 70 rednecks.

Philips_Arena_inside

This is usually about the time we would start making references to last years team, trouble with that is that they were actually solid defensively.  There are only so many times we can photoshop Rask crying, so instead lets lighten the mood and play a game called: "Who Does Craig Ramsay Most Resemble"?

Cam Ward was good. Bruins were not.

Written by Jon on .

finalscorebscanes1126

Don't let the high shot total fool you. The Bruins played awful for the majority of the game. This was terrible. Really terrible. January of 2010 terrible. Not to take anything away from Cam Ward. He absolutely robbed the Bruins multiple times. The Hurricanes capitalized on Bruins turnovers.

Well... the Bruins started good. First period looked better for the Bruins than the past few games but that all went down hill. Fast. Special teams were awful. Effort was almost non-existent after Carolina's first goal. Paille blew a rare opportunity for himself. Basically... it was hard to find anything good to say about this game.

As fans it is getting frustrating. We keep trying to tell ourselves the season is still young. But that's becoming less and less true. We are now starting to question this team's heart. Just like last year. Lately they have a tendency to play like they just don't WANT to win. The players and coaches need to do something. How many games now have they rattled off standard, bland answers about the need for a better effort? Words mean nothing now. We need action.

After the jump... redneck interviews and a whole lot of awful, awful hockey....

Happy Thanksgiving From Days of Y'Orr!

Written by Robb on .

Going to keep this short and sweet, but all of us at Days of Y'Orr would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.  We're truly thankful to live in the city of one of the greatest teams in the NHL, but we're even more thankful for all of our readers and supporters.

With that said, may all your turkeys be moist, your glasses full, and your football teams victorious.

Bruins Show Up Just In Time For The 3rd, Win 3-1

Written by Robb on .

bsflascore

Really Bruins? Are you going to be putting us through this all season?? The only comfort I take out of this game (besides the win) is that they can only show up to play for 20 minutes and still pull out a victory.

Then again, it was against the Panthers so I probably shouldn't be surprised.  The real question is: What were the Bruins doing during their time in Florida that would cause them to come out so flat two games in a row??

bsatMK

Oh...well that makes sense...

I don't mean to treat this game as a loss, it was great to see Boston rally to pull out the win, and despite the poorly played first two periods, there were some good things to take away.  Thomas was once again a god among men, a HUGE congratulations to Recchi for reaching 1500 point, and well...thats about it.

Dr. Love Lucic: No case he can't cure

Written by Justin on .

If you haven't seen it yet, Boston.com asked Milan Lucic three questions about love to answer.

Milan Lucic dishes out love advice as Dr. love

We're not sure who thought getting Lucic to dish out love advice was a good idea, but they're probably fired (or being hired by Conan).

We're also not sure how Lucic agreed to such an endeavor; his (former) agent? Maybe he lost a bet with Cam Neely? Who knows. Either way, these three videos happened. And they'll live on in this blog and the Internet 'till the end of time.

After the jump... the videos and our take on Dr. Love Lucic... Add a comment

Game Day: Bruins vs. Panthers -- Empty Seat Edition

Written by Justin on .

Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers Nov 24, 2010

Bruins looking to pull out a win before Turkey Day. They fought hard for half a game against LA and then for two minutes against Tampa Bay. Bs gotta show up for a whole game.

Top line needs to get more than one shot on net, too.

Julien worked the squad like dogs yesterday; hard enough for Mr. Shawn "Wayne" Thornton to shave his beard. Sadface. That thing was a beauty. We hope his offensive prowess continues with his baby-smooth face.

Speaking of Thorts. Get your vote on now and send Thornton to the All-Star Game. You can vote up to 30x a day. Don't be a wiener -- vote.nhl.com.

The big news for Bruins fans is that Marc Savard has been cleared for contact, meaning he's one step closer to joining the Bruins squad.

Marc Savard is clear for contact

He does need to get into hockey shape and form so don't expect Savvy to lace 'em up in the Garden anytime soon. We hear the Garden is really nice around Mid-December.

"Awesome" ad campaign by the Panthers.

Florida Panthers are retarded

Our reaction:

Dramatic Eagle

Really, guys? You're going to call the Penguins and Bruins turkeys? Who gets real-live fans in the seats? Fuckers.

We're jealous that the Panthers tickets are cheaper than the beer at the Boston Garden, though. What gives?

After the jump, the Bruins Hockey Rules contest winner, the projected roster for tonight, game day links and your game day video...

Why You Should Vote Thorts, Horts and Stuchuk 2011

Written by Jon on .

ShawnThorntonAllStarGame_ad

The leaderboard list came out today for the NHL All-Star Game ballot and we must say... we were terribly disappointed. Boychuk was there, although with not nearly enough votes. Horton's practically invisible.

Carey Price was ahead of Tim Thomas in the voting. Even that Bobrodkfjadakfal guy from Philly was ahead of Thomas.

And there was no Thornton.

You see that Boston fans? Even Philly fans know how how to turn on a computer and vote. Are you going to let that happen? Let guys from Philly and Montreal finish ahead of the Bruins? Are you going to sit there and NOT vote for Shawn Thornton? After all he's done for the community?

We previously called to the fans to cast their votes and now we need you again!

We realized that perhaps you did not have enough information to make an informed decision when it comes to voting. So we decided to follow the Thorts and Horts campaign around to show you just how hard they are working.

After the jump... why a vote for Thorts and Horts is a vote for good... and why voting for some others is a vote for eating babies.....
