No Looch against Jets

Written by Justin on .

If the Boston Bruins want to break their two-game losing streak they'll have to do it with out MIlan Lucic. After practice today Claude Julien said Looch won't be available for tomorrow's game against the Winnipeg Jets due to personal reasons. He's returning to Boston right away,

Won't speculate what the personal reasons could be as it could be anything. Whatever the reason it's big enough to miss a day of work.

Stepping in for Looch will be Lane MacDermid or Jay Pandolfo. If Julien decides to move Paille or Campbell up the line then we'll see MacDermid. If he decides to keep the Merlot Line in tact then Pandolfo will make his Bruins debut.

Seeing who'll actually replace Lucic on the first line will be interesting. Maybe Julien moves Seguin back to the first line to see if more chemistry is sparked. Last time they did it with Lucic on the wing, so it'd be interesting to see how they do with Horton as their third man. During practice today Peverly was skating with the first line, so he might start on the first line and see how things go.

Quick update from Fluto

Jay Pandolfo practiced on the fourth line. Pandolfo will make his Bruins debut tomorrow. Pandolfo was a healthy scratch last night. The left wing signed his one-year, $600,000 contract on Tuesday.

Today’s lineup:

Rich Peverley-David Krejci-Nathan Horton
Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron-Tyler Seguin
Daniel Paille-Chris Kelly-Chris Bourque
Jay Pandolfo-Gregory Campbell-Shawn Thornton

Zdeno Chara-Johnny Boychuk
Dennis Seidenberg-Dougie Hamilton
Andrew Ference-Adam McQuaid
Aaron Johnson

Tuukka Rask
Anton Khudobin

RECAP: Boston Plays Like Dogshit in Third. Bruins lose.

Written by Justin on .

Bruins lose to Sabres

Awful game. Absolutely awful game. After dominating the first two periods the Boston Bruins came out into the third period and took a huge John Scott size dump on the ice. Buffalo scores three unanswered goals and win 4-2. Ugh. This loss is worse than the one on Jan 31st. In that game both sides of the ice were an absolute shitshow for Boston. Tonight's was just infuriating. There's no reason they shouldn't have won tonight.

Props to Ryan Miller for carrying the team on his back tonight. Without Miller being spectacular the Bruins lead 5-1 after two, not that it would've mattered the way the defense looked in the third.

Bruins lost their first game in regulation with Chris Bourque in the line-up. The streak is over, the magic has ended. It's a sad day in Mudville. Guess we should start taking that 48 banner down from the rafters.

More after the jump where we rage and rage and rage...

PREVIEW 12. Boston Bruins at Buffalo Sabres

Written by Greg Ezell on .

Didn't we just play these guys? I feel like the Bruins February schedule is home vs NYR, then at Buffalo, then at NYR, then home against Buffalo - rinse and repeat. I'm not complaining though because playing Buffalo is like Michael Jordan dominating a wheelchair basketball game. For a team I picked to finish on top of the Northeast Division - they're fucking terrible and it all starts with their overpaid defensemen (LOL WHICH ONE?!) in Tyler Myers. Myers is god awful. The kid won a Calder Trophy for Christ sakes, what's he doing? Is Buffalo fucking up his development or is he just another Andrew Raycroft "One Year Hero"?

Even his Wikipedia page hates his guts: (click for larger image)

Myers Wiki

Yeah, "The Big Easy". I have some other nicknames for him:

"The Big Idiot"
"The Big Turnstile"
"The Larger Than Life Parking Cone"
"Zdeno Chara's Down Syndrome Clone"
"The Big, Dumb Jerk"

Aka, the kid sucks. You would think that being 6'8" wouldn't make you a sopping wet pussy, but here we are. Tyler Myers, the kid who Marchand dangled around to where all of Myers equipment fell on the ice and the guys who shovel the snow from the creases had to come and pick it up.

I hope Lindy stop scratching "The Tall Drink of Water" and lets him play tonight against the Bruins so Brad Marchand can blow past him again and Myers has to resort to skating back to the bench like a broken Frankenstein monster. This kid is slowly going the way of Zach Hamill.

YEAH I SAID IT!

Last time these two teams met, the Bruins put a boom bash on the Sabres as Anton Khudobin shined. I really hope that Boston continues their recent play against the Sabres (and by recent, I mean from a few nights ago and not February 1st). Boston dominated the Sabres - except when the power play rolled around, but that's a different animal I'm not ready to talk about. Well, actually I'm sick of talking about it. #FIREGEOFFWARD

After the jump is jumpy stuff...

Today Show Looks for Biggest Die-Hard Boston Sports Fans, Forgets About the Bruins

Written by Justin on .

The Today Show was in Boston this morning meaning they have to do a segment on Boston sports because we're pretty sure every show is contractually obligated to talk Boston sports when they're in town, whether they should or not. They did a short segment on the biggest Boston sports die-hard fans but they forgot about the greatest team of them all:

Serioulsy? No fucking Boston Bruins?

Cooke slices Karlsson's achilles, ends Senators season

Written by Justin on .

Last night Matt Cooke made yet another controversial hit to an NHL star. This time his target was well below the head. While driving Erik Karlsson into the boards his skate caught the back of Karlsson's leg and ended Karlsson's and the Senator's season.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-f31UNvwP2vs/URxUGxCTBTI/AAAAAAACFmg/jqYrbV80P8M/s600/CookeKarlsson.gif

Ouch. That's painful. Karlsson needs surgery. Who knows when he'lla ctually be back. It really depends on how bad the cut is.

Obviously Senators fans are pissed as well as the entire organization

"We all know who's involved in it," Senators coach Paul MacLean said. "That's just the way it is. The injury to Erik was unfortunate, and it happens on a nothing play that could've potentially been whistled down."

As Bruins fans we totally get it. Cooke's a fucking douchenozzle. But this was a clean, but unfortunate hit. Wait... hold on a second...

... OK, we're back. Just got a little sick for defending Cooke. So we won't anymore. Old friend Aaron Ward explains why this is just a hockey play gone wrong perfectly.

(Stick tap to BGW at Cblog)

Between this and Reimer going down, we just need something to happen to Vanek and Subban/Price and we'll start seeing Bruins Bounty Conspiracies running wild. Can't wait.

But with Karlsson down that's a huge blow to the Senators. It'll be interesting to see how this affects them in the standings. RIght now they're 7-5-2, two points back from Boston in the Northeast. The Leafs are 8-5-0 and also two-points back from Boston. They'll have to show some depth on a roster people were questioning from the get-go to keep up with the Bruins and rest of the East.

And Cooke isn't getting a phone call from Shanny, by the way.

Love, Charity and the Bruins. What's Better Than That?

valentine

As you guys know, we love when readers want to get involved. A month or so we had Christine who made a huge bear out of snow to troll her neighbors in Montreal. We've had guest bloggers and have the upcoming Google+ show (which I hope you will all watch and get involved in).

Last night during the Bruins game, a reader of ours asked us to do her a favor. She's one of oru original Twitter followers before she left the tweeting world and we're always down to help out a reader. Tomorrow, Nicole is going to be auctioned off for a date at the Newport Blues Cafe in Newport, Rhode Island. The proceeds of the auction is going to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. It's $20 to get in and from 8pm to 9pm you have the chance to meet those who are being auctioned off.

Nicole asked us to write a quick post on this because she got some help from the Boston Bruins Foundation and she put together a pretty fucking awesome package that any Bruins fan would be excited for. Her package includes a Boston Bruins team signed stick, Bergeron jersey, tickets to the 2/28/13 game against Ottawa.

So if you're not doing a fucking thing tomorrow, head down to Newport and win yourself a hockey date with a good looking girl for charity.
