Cam Ward had a lot to say during the third period of last night's game. He had even more to say post-game.
According to Cam Ward being big, tall and nasty means you can't jump into frays or stick up for teammates. Only the little guys are allowed to do that.
“Well, the guy is eight feet tall and he’s jumping a player. That doesn’t translate as being very tough in my eyes,” said Ward, who has notched two wins over the Bruins this season. “I’m emotional just like everybody else and when you see that happening to your own player you want to [help them]. I had some choice words too but it is what it is.”
What Ward meant was "I saw this leviathan pummel one of my players but I'm too big of a wuss to do anything about it, so I'll just skate over to him and talk him into submission."
Chara said he had no idea what Ward said to him. What was going through his mind was probably "Rage, RAge, RAAAGE!"
Also according to Cam Ward, opposing goalies aren't allowed to come at him and give him choice words evena fter he decided to leave his creace to give Chara choiced words.
“I was surprised, but I didn’t take it as a serious threat. It is what it is. [It was] nothing,” said Ward, who earned No. 1 Star honors for the game while making 33 saves in an oft-times brilliant performance. “I don’t even know what was said [with Rask]. Obviously, my heart rate didn’t even get up or anything. Basically, I told him to get down back in his own end and he did."
NESN.com had the same quote with "I'm not gonna waste my time with Tuukka Rask." at the end.
But surprised? Tuukka's been looking for a fight last couple years. We forget the game, but remember that Thomas had to keep the bench door closed after a scrum started in the corner. Tuukka (who was pulled at the end of the game) wanted to jump out and give some bitches pedigrees, HHH style. Also, this:
He went back down to his own crease 'cause Ward wouldn't drop the gloves. But we'll let Ward think he shoo'd Rask away like a little puppy.
Whena asked what he said to Cam Ward, Tuukka Rask said "I asked why he jumped my guys?"
Maybe with some choiced Finnish words, too.
Nothing shows how manly and tough you are than being a guy who's covered in thick padding from head to toe and can't be farted on without a penalty being called, calling two men willing to drop gloves (including a fellow goalie) and throw it down as "not tough" -- after the game.
Hell, Ward's not much of a fighter anyways. He got taken out to dinner, banged and left with no cab money on the dresser by Michael Leighton of all people.
In short. Cam Ward is a pussy and Eric Staal is a goat fucker.
I'm done listening to the fucking bullshit that gets spewed throughout this fanbase. Yesterday must have been "tell everyone to relax" day because that's all anyone did. "Oh, it's 5 games into the season, relax." "They won the Stanley Cup, relax." "They have Tuukka and Timmy, relax." Fuck off. What are you going to tell me now? "Oh, it's only 6 games into the season, relax." Sorry bud, I'm not going to relax anymore. Are you watching the type of hockey this team is playing? It's pure dog shit. Head off to a dog park in Boston and look for those tightly coiled mud-pies on the ground because they are a good indication of how the Bruins are playing. Actually, the shit may be a little too tight. Eat a bunch of Mexican food and drink about a case of Bud Light. The excrement that falls from your anal evacuation is a better indication of how these guys play: Messy. Smelly. Shitty.
But that's okay because they won the Stanley Cup right? It doesn't matter that they've been outplayed in three of the last four games and are 2-4-0 on the season. 1 win. 1 fucking win and it didn't come against Colorado or two meetings against Carolina. Luckily, it was a dominating performance against the Lightning. The other 2 points came from a shootout win over Chicago. So the Bruins have 4 points in 6 games and are sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, but they won a Stanley Cup so it's okay right?
Sorry everyone, but before getting into the recap, there is a little matter of retribution for a crack Justin made in the preview...plus I need to get out some anger over that game
What a god damn joke this game was, thank god I took notes during the game, otherwise all I would remember about this shitshow is the abortion that was the 3rd period. Hell, even Julien got kicked out of the game. The total penalty minutes for the Bruins came to 82. Sure, there were some bad calls, but the Bruins didn't help things.
Oh and to all those "fans" that were thowing stuff onto the ice, die in a fire. To all those who condone or encourage throwing stuff on the ice...get 3rd degree burns in a fire.
The first period was an exercise in frustration, Bruins brought great pressure, but Ward was god damned unbeatable. That combined with Joe Corvo going down and out was enough to bring our piss to a boil.
The second period didn't look much different...oh, except for the giant scrum towards the end. It was nice to see some passion, and even nicer to see Chara step up, even if he got 17 minutes of penalties for it. Lucic even showed a little heart. Things got a little chippy, sure, but I don't think anyone saw the 3rd period coming.
Boston Bruins look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.
They're coming off a huge win against the Chicago Blackhawks. Terrific, competetive game from both sides. We'd love to see a Bruins-Blackhawks finals, mostly 'cause it'd let us trash talk with BHDL more.
Kampfer's been on the ice practicing this week. He took a huge, accidental hit from Lucic at the end of practice. You know it was accidental 'cause Looch was the one that threw the hit. Guy hasn't thrown a check since Kessel left Boston. Is Kessel the soruce of Looch's power? Dear god...
Krejci also hit the ice for the first time today though he didn't do line rushes. He won't suit up. Adam "Brickhead" McQuaid is a game time decision. Pretty sure McQuaid at 50% is still better than Bartkowski at 110%.
"The team was lifeless for 2 1/4 periods. It wasn't until Wonder Boy Tyler Seguin ripped a lazer did the team finally woke up. Kid looked pissed after his goal. Average age of the teams best scorers this year is 21. Yay for veteran leadership.
In fact, everyone but Seguin, Marchand, Rask and Thomas have been like ghosts for most of the young season. Unreal. Someone needs to tell the boys that preseason is over. These games count."
The game was lame. Best part was Pizz spotting Margaret McPoyle. Hoping she makes a return tonight with better Bruins results.
Also, we tried recording another podcast last night with TalkShoe Live and it was another failure. Looking at alternatives. Might go with BlogTalk Radio but we kinds need a sponsor to pay for the yearly fee (taking donations and sponsors now). Anyone else more familiar with podcasting have ideas? We have a shoestring budget, or as we like to call it at DOY HQ, a budget the size of Pizz's penis.
More after the jump... including where to watch tonight's game online, gameday links and the projected roster

It wasn't pretty but the Bruins broke their mini losing streak and took down the Blackhawks 3-2 in the shootout on the back of The Seguin.
Remember last year when some cowardly Blackhawk (rumored to be Kane) chirper Thornton as his left the ice with an injury and that big, talentless idiot John Scott said he was going to kick Thornton's ass this year? Where were you last night Scott? Other than being glued to the bench because you suck. You didn't kick anyone's ass. Have fun eventually wasting away in the AHL you fool.
The B's needed this win and hopefully it is a confidence builder. The Blackhawks are dangerous and even though they needed the shootout the B's got it done. Thomas was awesome, Horton finally scored and Seguin continued to be awesome.
Also, big congrats to Claude Julien for getting his 300th win!
The Harvard Lampoon is honoring the Boston Bruins tomorrow as the "Best Sports Team Ever." We suppose this settles things. You know it's legit when Harvard says it's so. Wonder what MIT has to say about all this hooha.
Not sure what's the bigger story: The Bruins being honored with yet another celebration or the fact that there are people who go to Harvard who have enough of a sense of humor to run a comedy magazine.
From Harvard Lampoon's website:
The Bruins players will be at Harvard on Sunday, October 16th, to accept the award publicly. A parade featuring the players will leave from the Lampoon Castle to Brattle Street in Harvard Square, where a Bruins-themed street festival will be waiting. The festival will last from 1 – 6 PM and will feature live entertainment, as well as various Bruins-themed attractions and booths from local restaurants and businesses. The entire Boston community will be invited to attend this ceremony at which the Bruins players are expected to give an acceptance speech.
Who will be there? According to Boston.com: Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Tyler Seguin, Shawn Thornton, Johnny Boychuk and Andrew Ference.
The Bruins have started the season off to a pretty shitty start. What an opening line huh? I'll be honest, I didn't believe that the B's would start 4-0, but I didn't think that they would also be 1-3 with two horrible outings against two less then mediocre teams. Carolina and Colorado aren't going to light the NHL on fire and for Boston to play the way they did is a disgrace. The Bruins are better than that.
A few days ago I wrote about Milan Whocic not showing up for the Bruins, but it's unfair to put it all on #17. In reality, not many guys are stepping up when they need to. Whocic and Horton definitely need to step it up, especially if Krejci is out longer than this short road trip. Jordan Caron has looked like dog shit the few games he's played. I know the kid is young but when he played in the beginning of last season he looked good. He looked hungry. This year he just looks lost.
Thomas hasn't looked spectacular this season either. Sure, he has made some good individual saves, but other than the Tampa win can you say he's looked on point? In Philadelphia he gave up a goal he shouldn't have. Against Carolina, he looked slow. I know it's blasphemy to speak ill of Tim Thomas due to last season, but that's over. The guy is a year older and at the beginning of the playoffs he'll be 38. 38!
The only redeeming thing about the Bruins is they play well against good teams. Although they lost to Philly, they played a good game. You can give them a pass because they spent 45 minutes waiting for a banner to be hung. They dominated a very good Tampa Bay team. Lesser opponents? They shit the bed.
I bring this up because Chicago is a good fucking hockey team. They still have super douche Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. They still have Patrick Sharp (though he's got like 20 penalty minutes haha). They have some fantastic defensive players and were lucky enough to get rid of that fire bush Brian Campbell.
If the Bruins want to win tonight, they need to play like the Bruins not the pussies they played like against Carolina and Colorado.
After the jump, GameDay Brew, Project Roster and all the goodness...
