Game Day: Pens vs. Bruins -- Young Guns

Written by Justin on .

Game 44: Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Boston Bruins, 1/15/11
Boston Bruins host the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Garden this afternoon for what should be another great match up. Some people hate 1pm games; we kinda like the idea of rolling out of bed and heading straight to the Garden for some hockey.

Bruins have scored 17 goals in their last three games, including that 4-2 doggy-style win over the Pens. Offense doesn't seem a problem anymore, but how long will it last? We're still waiting for Horton to break the goal line -- he's played well, just not getting breaks. Same with Savvy.

The Bruins are showing some character, finally, on the ice and are finding ways to win games -- be it from behind against the Pens, a blowout vs. the Sens or a crazy, back-and-forth epic against the Flithadelphia Flyers. Wins, obviously, matter and the Bruins are finding ways to get points in the standings. They haven't always been pretty as of late, but ugly wins can turn into winning streaks. Hopefully the Bruins can keep the ball rolling against Pittsburgh this afternoon.

Penguins are still Crosby-less -- always a plus.

Ference will be sitting out with an "upper body injury" aka, a pulled groin. Stuart says he's ready to go but will probably be unlikely for today's game, and Lucic is still DTD.

Highlights from last Bruins-Pens game. Thanks for the Birthday Win, fellas.

VIDEO: 'Cause let's be honest, you can't get enough Guardian Project

Written by Justin on .

Video is now released of the Boston Bruins Guardian, part of the NHL/Stan Lee Guardian Project.

We're curious as to what this "True Evil" character is. We want it to be Bettman, but it'll probably be the KHL. Or, if we're lucky, something lame (comedy value will be stupendous).

Love how The Bruin is wearing gym clothes from like the '70s. Classy shit right there. But hey, could be worse -- a lot worse.

Also love his super power is precognition and super smell.

New theory is that the 6 is for long lost and much maligned Bruins defenseman, Dennis Wideman. Wow. How shitty and cruel would that be?  Add a comment

Crazy Go Nuts. Bruins Win a Gun Fight.

Written by Jon on .

What a game. If you didn't like this game, you don't like hockey. Back and forth action. Each team dominating for stretches. Twelve totals goals. Fluke goals, pretty goals. Bruins scored five goals in the third.

Brad Marchand continues to be a beast. So does Bergeron. And Kampfer. Chara continues to respond to getting called out. Thomas was human... and the Bruins still won. Danny Briere continues to be a little bitch. Hartnell still sucks.

When this game started the Bruins looked flat. Took them a few minutes to get their legs. When they blew the lead in the third after scoring two goals in a minute and ten seconds, you wondered for a moment if they were blowing a big game again. But they kept fighting. They didn't just sit back and take it and they were rewarded.

Philly fans are going to be pissed. Just before Marchand scored the puck was out of play but the refs thought it hit the glass and not the netting. To be honest I'm sure we'd be pissed if it went the other way. Oh well.

The only thing that is going to ruin this game is all the people talking about the Bruins "getting revenge" for last year. Let it go. Bruins are riding high right now. Comeback against Pittsburgh. Killing a terrible Ottawa team. Dealing with the ups and downs of this game and grabbing a victory. Seven goals by seven different players.

Wins against Pittsburgh and Philly are big for Boston. Pittsburgh awaits again on Saturday. Lets see if the Bruins keep this momentum going.

After the jump, more goals than you can shake a stick at.....

Boston Bruins Rules: Obey Bathroom Etiquette

Boston Bruins Rules: Obey Bathroom Etiquette
The Bear is back with another Boston Bruins Rule. This time, our hero takes on the assholes who think they're bathroom royalty and jump the line.

Couple things:

1) From the length of the line outside, the inside of the bathroom should be a giant, drunken mob.
2) We almost feel bad for the guy being dunked head first into the bathroom. Those things are disgusting. Worse thing that could happen to you at a Bruins game is to have to take a shit. We're not sure what the women's bathroom stalls are like, but we hope it's much better then the men's.
3) Bruins love the bathroom commercials.
4) The face of a dead man:

Game Day: Flyers vs. Bruins - Business Time

Written by Jon on .

Short preview today as the Days of Y'Orr crew is busy prepping a few projects and busting chops.

Not sure if you guys heard but the Bruins collapsed against the Flyers last year. We get it every hockey writer ever. We get it. Find a new story line please.

Boston may not be able to play tonight, as police are still investigating assault and molestation charges levied against the Bruins by Ottawa. Our dear Bruins are coming off two wins in a row, a come from behind in Pittsburgh and a 6-0 demolition of the terrible, terrible Senators.

Patrice Bergeron is on fire. He's every where. We're hoping he makes Boucher's life hell tonight.

Lucic isn't playing. He's out with an upper body injury. Fans and media everywhere are bitching about this vague "upper body injury" thing like we're entitled to know. Not sure it will make things better if you know or not, but hey different strokes for different folks.

Tonight is Jody Shelley's first game against the Bruins since boarding McQuaid. He's had other instances of cheap shit since. Maybe Thornton will punch him out. Then again, being a terrible, borderline AHL player is probably punishment enough.

Grinding Gears: Lackluster play

Written by Greg on .

Grinding Gears: Boston Bruins lackluster play Welcome to the second edition of Grinding Gears. Last week Angry Bruins Fan, Greg, went on a rant about Canada and was wondering why our friends up north were hating on the US-of-A so much. This week, Greg talks about the Bruins lackluster play of late.

Let it be known that Greg sent this to us Tuesday morning, after the Bruins showed up for the final three minutes of the Pens game and well before Bergeron went a murderous scoring spree against the Sens. He fully expects to get reamed for this post. We ask you to at least use some lube.

For more Greg, follow him on Twitter @Pez5611 and read this other blog, Angry Bruins Fan.

Welcome to the second edition of Grindin' Gears with Greg over here at Days of Y'Orr. Last time I talked about the World Juniors Championships and Canada's lack of respect when it came to hosting the tournament in America.

So what's pissing me off this week? The Boston Bruins.

I know, I know, shocking right? What's really pissing me off with this team is the lack of urgency they seem to have. I'm ready for the "well what about the Pittsburgh game?" comments and replies on Twitter and to that I say, which game did you watch? For 50 minutes of that game Boston skated around like it was an optional skate. Everyone was complaining about the play of the Bruins. Fans on Twitter, fans on Facebook, fans on Gchat and text messages blew my phone up because people were saying how much the Bruins suck. We all ranted and raved about firing Claude Julien because of the uninspired play that Boston has had the past few games.

So figure my surprise when the Bruins shove a lucky enchanted horseshoe up their black and gold asses and shit out a 4-2 victory over the Pens. Then take that surprise and mate it with the shock of people saying that nothing about Julien! How does winning a game make everything better? Just because the last 10 minutes of a game showed passion and drive doesn't make everything better. There is something wrong in that locker room but no one is ever going to admit it.

Greg keeps on ranting and raving after the jump... Add a comment

VIDEO: Amateur hour at the Garden -- Bruins fans do the wave

Written by Justin on .

Dumb Boston Bruins fans do the wave at the Boston Garden

Something I've never seen at the Boston Garden and never hope to see again. --Teskick (youtube)

While Patrice Bergeron was playing the role of the Mad Hatter, scoring hat tricks, fans at the Boston Garden turned the night into amateur hour by starting the wave.

The fucking wave.

The Garden isn't Fenway Park. Leave the cheesy baseball celebrations at Fenway, people. There's no room for that shit at the Garden.

We're not the only ones who think this.

We know the crowd was beyond giddy with Bergy bending the Senators over and the Bruins putting up six goals. But the wave? No. It's pathetic. It's an embarrassment. It's something Sabres fans would probably do, so check it at the door. The wave sucks.

If you need more reason to not be a tool and not do the wave at a Bruins game here it is -- people at Bieber and Jonas Bros. shows do the wave. (1) (2) (3)

Bergeron in your Mouth. Bruins Rail Senators.

Written by Jon on .

Wow. Didn't see that one coming. Bergeron took this game over early and never let up. It was ridiculous. Ottawa was completely outclassed from start to finish. Can't be long before they fire their coach. Or just shut down for the season. Bruins did what they needed to do... Ottawa is terrible and the Bruins came out and ruined their shit. Full effort from top to bottom for the Bruins.

Bergeron making a strong case for Non Tim Thomas team MVP lately. He's raised his game when the team needed him most. Common theme with Bergeron. What more can you ask?

Mark Recchi passed Ray Bourque on the all time games played list tonight. Not even sure the dead ages. Go Recchi.

After the jump, Bergeron, Marchand and Tim Thomas bend Ottawa over and have their way.......

Game Day: Ottawa vs. Bruins -- Building Momentum

Written by Justin on .

Game 42: Ottawa Senators vs. Boston Bruins, 1/11/11

Bruins are coming off a big come-from-behind win over the Penguins. We're still in shock-and-awe at what happened in those final few minutes. After blowing a lead with only three minutes left in the game, they came to win a game in the final three minutes.

Bruins are taking  on the Senators tonight who are hurting this year... again... what else is new. Hopefully the Bruins can build off their momentum from last night.

Chris Neil still sucks.

neilassanta
Lucic might be injured. No one knows. We just know he left the game last night pissed.

Chara and Thomas were both named to the All Star Game this year. Tyler Seguin will be one of 12 rookies to take part in the skills competition.

Tim Thomas All Star Mustache

Tim Thomas when asked what happens if he and Chara are on different teams at All-Star Game: "I win, he loses." -- This is from Doug Flynn on twitter.

After the jumps.... is DOY "angry" enough... projected roster (Horton back?).... game day links... and the game day video...
