RECAP: Don't Call It a Comeback! Because It Fell Short. BRUINS LOSE.

Written by Jon on .

So ummm... we can't even be mad at that loss. Sure, the Bruins played like crap for 99% of the game and spotted the Rangers three goals but they did not deserve a point, but they stole one!

But seriously, how bonerific (what is the girl equivalent?) were those last few minutes when Rask was pulled and the B's were storming the Rangers net like the beaches of Normandy?

THAT is the team we want to see more often. If the Bruins keep getting into this mind set that they can be lazy for a bit and then just comeback they will lose A LOT more games. You're way too good for this Bruins. WAY too good.

And thanks a lot Bruins for cock/vagina teasing all your fans. We're all like OMGZ THEY'RE TOTZ GUNNA COME BACK! But then in the shootout you let us down. Now we know how our wives/girlfriends feel.

And on that note.. umm... we're sorry wives/girlfriends. We didn't realize how we were making you feel! :( We'd say it won't happen again but you asked us not to lie to you.

Anyway... go read more.....

Bruins Sign Jay Pandolfo To A One Year Deal; Placed On Waivers

Written by Greg Ezell on .

pandolfo

Apparently doing your best David Wooderson from Dazed and Confused lands you on a hockey team. Jay Pandolfo has been practice with the Bruins since the NHL Lockout and has not been officially signed to a one year contract worth $600K. From the Bruins:

Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, February 12, that the team has signed forward Jay Pandolfo to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2012-13 season and then placed him on waivers. The contract is worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $350,000 at the AHL level.

TRANSACTION: Boston Bruins sign forward Jay Pandolfo to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2012-13 season, place Pandolfo on waivers

So take that for what it's worth. Pandolfo will probably be used as an injury replacement.

GAME 11 PREVIEW: NY Rangers vs. Boston Bruins -- Last Time Bs play NY in Regular Season

Written by Justin on .

Rangers vs Bruins

We're only at Game 11 and tonight will be the last time the Bruins and the Rangers play each other in the regular season. Funny that, eh? The NHL really just wanted to cram those games all together.

First time the two teams met Boston won 3-1. In the second game, the Bruins stole a point by forcing OT only to lose on a Gaborik hat trick. A pretty goal in which he batted his rebound out of the air and passed Rask. That game was 4-3 in favor of NY but it did have Boston's first PP goal, of which we can still count them all on one hand.

The Rangers are a currently 6-5 and sitting on in the 8th seed in the East. But they're a deceptive 6-5 team. NY has gone 5-2 in their last seven games and Lundqvist is looking a bit more solid in net which is always good for NY, shitty for other teams. Not that anyone in Boston would or should expect an easy game but the Rangers aren't exactly struggling at the moment, so expect a hard played game.

Thornton won't have his dance partner as Rupp got traded to the Wild.

And, of course, the Bruins are currently in new frontier as they're off to the best start in franchise history.

Key to tonight's game will be the same as always. The Bruins need to play solid defensive hockey. Rangers have a lot of speed and skill on their top line and if Boston tries playing a run-n-gun style game it's not going to go very well. Like Vanek, the Bs need to shut Gaborik down so he doesn't score another hatty, and keeping Nash in check is always a smart idea. Both guys have 9 points in 11 games.

Also, tonight's game starts at 7:30 and not the usual 7pm, so feel free to relax an extra half hour before heading into the Garden or tossing on NESN.

TEASER:  We have a pretty cool announcement coming out tomorrow. It has to do with a new endeavor for Team DOY that we're hoping will take off and you all will enjoy. Still Bruins related, so no worries. Stay tuned.

Lightning-Bruins Game Rescheduled to April 25th

Written by Justin on .

Bruins-Lightning game canceled

The NHL has finally picked a make-up game for the Boston Bruins-Tampa Bay Lightning game that was postponed due to Nemo dropping a bomb of snow on Boston.

From the team site:

NEW YORK (February 11, 2013) – The National Hockey League announced today, February 11, the rescheduling of the game between the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning that was postponed on Saturday, February 9, due to the weather-related State of Emergency in Boston.

The game will be played on Thursday, April 25, at TD Garden in Boston. Face-off is at 7:30 p.m.

That'll be the Bruins second to last game before the playoffs start. They'll now end the year playing four games in the final week. That also means Boston's playing 14 games in 27 days in April, pretty much a game every other day. Brutal way to end the season. Hopefully the team can stay healthy down that final stretch and into the post-season. Tampa's pretty much in the same boat that week/month.

RECAP: Khudobin shines brighter than Rihanna's forehead at the Grammys. BRUINS WIN!

Written by Greg Ezell on .

The Bruins scored a big victory last night in Buffalo if we want to play up the revenge angle, but I don't. I don't see why people believed the Bruins needed to avenge Shawn Thornton because of what happened with him and John Scott. If an enforcer gets hurt fighting an enforcer, there's nothing to atone for. Instead, Boston came out and pretty much manhandled the Buffalo Sabres and took what really mattered: Two points.

So to all those in Buffalo who were shitting on the Bruins after their 7-4 loss to the Sabres: How's their ass taste? Unlike the first game, the Bruins shut down any and all offensive chances the Sabres had. They successfully defended against Thomas Vanek (I KNOW RIGHT) and actually scored a goal on the power play, although the power play still blew a bag of monkey dicks the entire game.

Rihanna

The best part about it? The Bruins let John Scott try to imitate a hockey player and Brad Marchand dangled around him. They didn't need to drop the mitts last night (although Gregory Campbell tried and got chewed up by Patrick Kaleta). They have the talent and depth to run through the Sabres every time.

Let's get all up in this recap's ass...

PREVIEW 10.5: Bruins vs. Sabres -- We're Mostly Dug Out

Written by Justin on .

Bruins vs. Sabres

Is today's game Game 10 or Game 11? Fuck it, we'll go with Game 10.5 for now. Stupid snow storms...

Last time the Bruins and Sabres faced off the Bruins played like ass. The defense had more holes than swiss cheese, Tuukka Rask was left out to dry like sheets at your grandmothers house and Thomas Vanek was allowed to mollest this shit out of Rask like a bad prom date. It was awful. Thornton got concussed, Sabres fans jerked off to John Scott's picture... it was awful.

We're not expecting lightning to strike twice for Buffalo.

Since that game Bruins have gone 2-0 and have tightened up defensively, letting in only one goal against the Leafs & Habs. The Sabres went 2-3 with 22 goals let in (just over 4 GAA), though they are riding a two-game win streak. Then again, those wins came against the Islanders and the Habs who are in the middle of a giant meltdown, so take it for what it's worth. But their defense is pretty horrid. Like god awful horrid.

This time around we're expecting the Bruins to remember what happemed last time. We're expecting a tighter defensive game. But it all starts with Chara acting like Chara and the Bruins defensive team locking Vanek down. Stop Vanek, stop the Sabres. Simple as that.

We're also not expecting anyone to fight Scott. Not because they're afraid but because there's no logical reason to trade Lucic or Chara for Scott. It'd be the dumbest trade off in the history of trade offs. And the whole "Looch needs to answer for the Miller hit" is bullshit and old hat. He already answered the bell. Just because Buffalo didn't like the outcome of that doesn't mean Milan has to keep fighting. Time for those Sabres fans to move on and worry about their porous defense.

Bruins-Lightning Game Postponed

Written by Justin on .

Bruins-Lightning game canceled

In a move completely opposite of what the League has done and said in the past, tonight's Boston Bruins-Tampa Bay Lightning game is postponed. And probably for the best. The driving ban is lifted at 4pm but the MBTA is down and good luck finding parking.

From the Bruins:

A make-up date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed.

Although both Clubs and the assigned on-ice officials are in Boston, travel conditions remain too hazardous for fans, security personnel and TD Garden staff to get to the arena.

We kinda wish Steve Downie still played for Tampa so he could show up to the Garden and recreate this.

Now Marchand can go back to what he really wants to do today anyways.

S/T to Ty Anderson for getting the word out first. Giving credit where credit is due.

PREVIEW 10. Tampa Bay Lightning at Boston Bruins: Nemo Edition

Written by Greg Ezell on .

Note: In case you've been living under a snow covered rock, the Bruins game has been moved to 7pm EST tonight. Also, the MBTA announced today that all of their services (Buses, Trains, Commuter Rail) will remain suspended for the day. Plan accordingly if you were planning on taking the train to the game.

UPDATE: TONIGHT'S BRUINS-LIGHTNING GAME IS CANELED. MORE INFO HERE.

A great hockey mind once asked: "If a goal horn goes off, but no one is around does it make a sound?"

Actually, I'm sure no one asked that, but I can bet that almost nobody will make it to tonight's game. It reminds me of the 2007 game versus the Devils where only about 1,500 people or so showed up because it was blizzard like conditions out. They played the game then and they'll play the game tonight. The only thing that could threaten the game being played is the travel ban that Massachusetts still has and the talks that it will be extended until tomorrow.

CharaStLouis

Either way, I'm writing this preview like the Bruins are playing tonight.

I'll be honest with you guys, this game scares the piss out of me. Tampa comes in tonight with the best offense in the NHL, scoring 4.20 goals per game! That's a ridiculous number when you consider that the number two scoring offense, the Blackhawks (who are on fire) "only" score 3.60 goals per game.

The Lightning has scored four or more goals in six games this season, most of them coming in January, although they did throw an eight spot on the board against Winnipeg on February 1st. Lately it seems that their offense has tapered off, losing their last three games and scoring five goals in the process.

Of course that doesn't mean anything because the Bruins defense has been so hit or miss throughout the season. Look at the games versus Buffalo and Montreal. Team speed kills this defense and makes Claude's system null and void. It's scary to think what Stamkos and St. Louis can do against this defense, considering they lit the Bruins up last year (though Marty Turco was in net so....)

tampon bay

Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis, though, are having tremendous seasons so far. Stamkos is third in the NHL in points with 17 while St. Louis is 5th with 16. Shut down those two and you're going to win the game, but that's easier said then done when your captain is playing like a drunken giant.

After the jump, the rest of the preview...

Will the NHL delay/cancel tomorrow's Bruins-Lightning game?

UPDATE -- GAME PUSHED BACK TO 7PM:

The National Hockey League and the Boston Bruins have announced that the start time for the Bruins/Lightning game on Saturday, February 9 has been moved to 7:00 p.m. at the TD Garden due to the weather.

The game was originally scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9 at the TD Garden.

Here's our original post on snow storms and NHL games...

With Nemo starting to hit New England and expecting to dump around three feet of snow in Boston, fans are wondering if there'll be a game tomorrow. The short answer is 99% most likely. And it can be summed up in a couple of tweets from Jack Edwards:

That second tweet was from yesterday, meaning the Lightning arrived in Boston last night when the skies were cloudy but not snowing.

But what about the fans!? Won't anyone think of the children!?

That's cute that you think the league gives a shit about the fans. Didn't you learn anything from the Lockout or have we all buried that incident aside, swept next to when the drunk creepy uncle got a little too "handsy" at the family party one year?

After the jump... we look at past blizzards and how they (didn't) affect the NHL...
