Game 3 Preview: Bruins vs. Montreal -- The mettle of a man

Written by Justin on .

Boston Bruins vs. MoOntreal Canadiens Game 3
Game 3 tonight. In Montreal. Holy cow.

Bruins have looked like crap in the first two games. No two ways about it. In fact, this commercial explains it all.

They're not shitting in the woods 'cause they crapped all over the Garden ice in Game 1 and Game 2.

Bruins have been horrible at home this year, but they looked extra horrid in the first two games.

We can't even defend the team's play. There hasn't been anything for us to be optimistic about from the first two games.

Time for that to change.

Bruins have been Road Warriors all season. If the Bs want to actually show like they belong in the playoffs it has to start tonight.

TimThomasRoadWarrior
Inch by inch. It's gotta start tonight.

Boston's been a hot/cold, streaky team all season as well. If they win tonight, it could get the ball rolling in the right direction. It's time for the Bruins roster to show their mettle. It's gotta start in the arena they haven't won a game yet all season.

Better late than never.

No Show Bruins Lose. Again. Down 2-0

Written by Jon on .

No team wins every game in the playoffs. It just doesn't happen. But when the team you love doesn't even look like they're trying, you can't even accurately describe the level of frustration.

The Bruins laid yet another egg last night. Not sure if they are aware the playoffs started. Sure Chara was out. But no one else on that team stepped up. Thomas was handing the Canadiens goes on a silver platter. Price was rarely even bothered. Guy hasn't had to work hard all series. Not a good sign.

You can try to point to Montreal's diving and cheap shots but the Bruins thus far have shown a complete inability or lack of desire to overcome that. What we're seeing is the same exact team we saw in Game 7 against Carolina in 2009 and Game 7 in Philadelphia in 2010.

The Habs might be a shitty, cowardly, whiny piece of crap organization. But the Bruins are proving themselves to be an organization with a loser mentally and that needs to change quickly.

When your GM and coach keep saying the team is playing well and that simply playing their best is their goal.... well, we should've known we were in trouble. All that talk about learning from past playoff mistakes looks like bullshit right now. You have to wonder if the culture in the team is a culture of winning.

We HATE Scott Burnside around here. Guy is a hack. But a couple years ago he wrote this. At the time it seemed crazy. But now?

We haven't been people that have been on the "Fire Claude" bandwagon this season. But as he and the rest of the coaching staff seemingly REFUSE to make adjustments at even strength, on the power play.... anywhere.... you have to wonder if the Devils were right that year.

The line that is ringing most true to us right now is when Burnside quoted Lamoriello:

"I don't think we're at a point of being ready both mentally and [physically] to play the way that is necessary going into the playoffs," Lamoriello said outside an empty Devils locker room at the Continental Airlines Arena. "I am not saying that is going to change. But I think there has to be better focus going forward."

If this play keeps up you wonder if the Bruins are forced to make some moves after the season.

The blame doesn't solely on the coaching staff. Not even the players are making adjustments. You have to wonder if the "loser mentality" of the GM saying simply playing well is the goal seeps down to the team.

The Bruins are down 2-0. Every game is a must win. Maybe the Bruins are just waiting to make a comeback of their own. We'll find out Monday.

After the jump.... where's the first line.... where's the heart....

Game Day Preview: Canadiens at Bruins, Game 2

Written by Robb on .

Ahh, Time To Go, we love you despite almost never hearing you at the damn games.  Guess Shipping Up to Boston is just easier to remember.

Now that everyone has had a little time to relax and chill the hell out, Bruins & Habs head back to the Garden to stress everyone (above and below the border) out again for Game 2.  Back in our last preview, we mentioned that the a big key for the Bruins would be to stay discipline, and they did...for the most part.  What we failed to mention is that for the Bs to win, they also needed to score.  Well lets fix that right now.

Hey Bruins, SCORE SOME GOALS TONIGHT.

After the jump, Chara is thirsty.

Bruins Forget Playoffs Started, Lose 2-0

Written by Jon on .

(Note: no "real" recap today. Days of Y'Orr crew was at the game last night so we couldn't take notes. We'll be back to normal Saturday)

You're going to hear it from Habs fans today. Don't bother using the "it was just one game" argument. In their minds they've already won the Cup.

We're not going to mix words. The Bruins SUCKED last night. They didn't play their game. They were nervous and timid. You can point to their shot total but 99% of their shots were front long distance and Price had a good look. Boston thought the logo on Price's chest was a target. Marchand's failure to grab that easy goal changed the whole game.

Also, someone needs to tell the B's to stop with their blind drop passes. Those haven't worked all season.

Also, how do you have pride as a Habs player or fan when you support their diving? That isn't hockey. If Habs fans want to keep living in the past, Richard didn't dive. But that was back when the Canadiens were an actual hockey team and not a bunch of bums. Too bad non of their current fans were around for that, even though they pretend they were.

That isn't how you win playoff games. You go to the front, pay the price. The Bruins didn't do that last night. They are one of the toughest and most physical teams in the league and they played like lambs.

What is important is how they respond next game. If they can't answer the call they are no different from the past two years. Habs fans will come in and be like hahahahaha you guys suck. They haven't won anything recently either so you can just laugh back. That is what is fun. Just keep your cool. While Montreal is busy burning down their city after one win, just grab a drink or something and wait until Saturday night.

There are already a bunch of Habs fans talking about how Bruins fans are not classy based on this above pic. Now, that statement is ironic coming from a Habs fan in general, but here's some video evidence to counter those fans:

It really was just one game. So much went wrong that things can only go up from here. The Bruins played like crap and the Habs still just barely won. Thomas will be sharper. The first line will wake up. They'll hopefully stop over passing. Let it go. Game 1 is over. Onto Game 2. Add a comment

Zdeno Chara and Max Pacioretty Make Up!

Written by Jon on .

If case you haven't heard the news, Zdeno Chara and Max Pacioretty are super best friends now!

According to Pacioretty's agent, Chara and Pacioretty finally spoke about the incident and now they both have all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings inside. How sweet!

We wish could we hear the conversation. We bet it went something like this:

Chara: Dude, it was a hockey play with bad results. Man up!
Pacioretty: You know, you're right! Sorry! Wanna go get some dinner?
Chara: Sure. Chara hungry!

Doesn't that just tug at your heart strings?

After the conversation the two enemies actually did meet up and because Chara is such a nice guy he took Pacioretty out for a full day of fun to make up for the hit. Chara invited the Days of Y'Orr camera crew to come out and film the entire evening. Now, here is the exclusive look at the Chara-Pacioretty Make Up Night!

After the jump.... a special day for Zdeno and Max......

Grindin Gears: Hows Your Car Flag? Edition

Written by Greg on .

Oh. My. God. Finally the Bruins will play a playoff game tonight. Leading up to this game is like hooking up with a female who enjoys teasing you. She leaving you high and dry day after day, while you look around and see other people (ie: teams playing) getting their rocks off, but she won't please you yet. Today is finally the day where the blue balls go away as the orgasmic feeling of playoff hockey as it once again shines down on Boston like the summer sun. However with every summer day comes a rain cloud to wash away all the happiness. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you - the first round rain cloud:

hmos
The Montreal Canadiens fan.

Oh sweet Jesus in Heaven or Zombie Jesus at Easter, please save us from this unholy menstruation that is the Montreal Canadiens fan.In fact, look at the picture above. The douchiest guy in the picture is wearing a FUCKING METS HAT. I've stood by the notion that people who wear other sports teams apparel to a different sport really isn't a fan of the sport they're watching to begin with. If you go to a Boston Bruins game, you're better off showing up naked than you are in a Red Sox, Patriots or Celtics jersey/hat/t-shirt because it shows you don't care enough about the Bruins to wear something of theirs. Hell, you don't even have to buy it, borrow something from a friend. This is especially true if you're showing up for a playoff game. Anywho, I digress because the Habs apparently have "one of the most hardcore fanbases in all of hockey" but this asshole wears a baseball hat - and a bad baseball team at that - to a Habs game/rally/circle jerk. Disgraceful.

Also "Arrest the Ice Hole" is clever - if your a member of the resource room in High School.

More goodness about how shitty the Habs fans are...

Game Day Preview: Game 1: Habs at Bruins

Here's some mood music for you

bruinsourfather
To the hockey icons above that look down on the Gallery Gods below - Eddie, Lionel, Bobby, Clapper, Phil, Cam, Chief, Milt, Teddy and Ray - we once again look to you to give us strength. Through your careers wearing the spoked B (or any version of the B) you've inspired us, brought us glory and brought us to tears. Today, a new group of Bruins will try to leave their mark on our eight-spoked heart like you've done so many times. The names like Milan Lucic, Nathan Horton and Tim Thomas are known around these parts, but give them the strength that you've had while playing the the playoffs, in the NHL's second season. Allow them to travel the path less traveled in Bruins hockey and may they find themselves holding Lord Stanley's Cup in victory when it is all said and done.

After the jump, lets take a look at what the Bruins need to do to defeat the Habs in Game 1...
